A prehistoric Bering Straits wooden effigy from St. Lawrence Island. Most effigies or dolls are of diminutive size, this one the rare exception. Another effigy, of more usual size is placed next to the piece to show this piece's unusual scale. A fragile piece that would have only survived due to permafrost conditions. Early Thule culture, circa 1000 AD.
