#159016
A large Thompson River, Salish, British Columbia work basket, with imbricated columnar black and brown weavings the entire circumference sides of the basket. This basket would have been used for the gathering of berries. A tight, heavy weave. Substantial areas of loss along the rim, wear on the woven color elements, otherwise intact, sturdy and a fine example. Such large work baskets were often discarded after use and are scarce. Circa late 19th or early 20th century.
