Collection: June Wayne
June Wayne (1918-2011) was born in Chicago, but moved to Los Angeles in wartime. A high school drop out at age 15, Wayne exhibited her first paintings in by age 17, and quickly proved herself a prodigy in many media. As the founder of the Tamarind Lithography Workshop, Wayne brought stone lithography masters to the US to collaborate with more than 100 artists in residence (1960-1970) at her Tamarind, Hollywood studio. The list of those artists is a virtual Who's Who of artistic talent of our time.

Wayne mastered lithography, painting, mixed-media and contemporary textile creation as well as being a pioneer activist for women in the arts. Her work is represented in the permanent collections of dozens of major museums and private collections world wide. The Los Angeles City Council and Mayor recognized her for her cultural and artistic achievements on what would have been the centenary of her birth March 7, 2018.
