This piece is illustrated and described in "Overstreet's Indian Arrowheads, Identification and Price Guide", Robert Overstreet, Old World Prehistoric Artifacts section, New York, 2001, 7th edition, page 1091, illustration no. 105. The author states, "Double end notch harvesting knife. Rare tool unique to Europe. Based on several found intact in lakes, a cord was looped around the notches to make the grip. Beige flint, turned red. Barrou, France. Neolithic. C. 6,000 B.P."
